Set in one hundred acres of glorious countryside, Kinlet Hall is one of the most magnificent houses in south Shropshire. Located at the end of a one-mile drive, the Hall is a Grade 1 listed Georgian manor which can be exclusively yours for your event. With its stunning location and elegant reception rooms, our venue brings class, style and refinement – with a surprising amount of intimacy.
"We received so many comments from our guests on the beautiful venue."
"You were all so hospitable and accommodating – thank you"
Kinlet Hall is run as an independent family business by the Engleheart family. Many of the family work on or live close to the site, enabling us to give a lot of time and attention to the house and to those whose lives it enriches. Personal service has been our family hallmark for three generations.
The house was built in 1729 by Francis Smith of Warwick for Sir William Lacon Childe, with the addition, a century later, of a fine Regency room (now the Ballroom) designed by Edward Haycock Sr. The same period saw the establishment of a fine sweep of parkland around the house with commanding views to the east and more intimate wooded gardens to the west and south. You can find a more detailed history of the house here →.
In 1946 Kinlet Hall became the home of Moffats School, which provided an invaluable economic use for the house at a time when many similar properties were disappearing due to their high maintenance costs. The school’s approach was to adapt itself to the house rather than the other way round; as a result, the setting remains to this day unfettered by modern structures. To meet the cost of preserving this classical masterpiece for future generations, we are developing our hospitality business at Kinlet Hall for private and corporate clients who want to enjoy and support a precious piece of our country’s exceptional heritage.
Situated on the Shropshire/Worcestershire border, the venue is close to Bewdley, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, with Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Worcester all less than an hour’s drive. We are easily reached from the M5, M42 and M54. Taxis run from our local rail station in Kidderminster, with direct services from Birmingham, Worcester and London (Marylebone). We have suitable flat ground for the landing of helicopters.
